Supporting Excellence in Polar Research: Preparing for POLARIN’s 2nd TA Call

POLARIN is pleased to share our latest interview highlighting the opportunities available through the 2nd Transnational Access (TA) Call for Proposals with three key POLARIN leaders behind the initiative: Veronica Willmott, POLARIN Project Manager, Hannele Savela, POLARIN Transnational Access Coordinator, and Michele Rebesco, POLARIN Evaluation Secretariat.

The conversation explores how researchers can benefit from POLARIN’s unique network of 64 Arctic and Antarctic research infrastructures, from field stations and vessels to core repositories and observatories. It also shares insights and lessons learned from POLARIN’s first Transnational Access (TA) Call, and the value that transnational access to research infrastructures brings to the polar research community. The discussion also looks at how to become an evaluator, the kinds of support POLARIN provides to successful projects, and offers practical advice for researchers planning to submit a proposal to the upcoming second call.

The 2nd TA Call opens on September 1, 2025, providing researchers worldwide with the chance to apply for free access to cutting-edge facilities. Applicants are encouraged to prepare their proposals early and follow the detailed guidelines available on the POLARIN website.
