POLARIN Ambassadors Programme

POLARIN is a unique project and the first of its kind to provide transnational access to polar research infrastructures in both poles, the Arctic and Antarctica. Through POLARIN, 38 research stations, 12 polar vessels, 18 observatories, 4 core repositories, and 7 data infrastructures have been interconnected, offering not just access to these facilities, but also a seamless and enriching user experience while tackling scientific challenges.

Each year, POLARIN launches a call for proposals for researchers to access its extensive network of polar research infrastructures. These calls are invaluable for enabling interdisciplinary research, fostering innovation, and advancing our understanding of key processes in the polar regions that have far-reaching impacts on society. By becoming a POLARIN Ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to share your unique experiences and insights about accessing polar research infrastructures through POLARIN. After all, sharing is caring, isn’t it?

The POLARIN Ambassadors Programme offers a space for researchers to share their experiences, inspire others, and help us improve our services. Whether through photos, videos, articles, or other formats, your contributions will help guide future users and build a vibrant, collaborative network of POLARIN service users.

In addition, the programme is dedicated to supporting early-career researchers by giving them a platform to showcase their work and share their experiences beyond the limits of traditional academic publications.

How to become a POLARIN Ambassador

Becoming a POLARIN Ambassador is simple! Here’s how:

1. Apply for POLARIN’s Transnational Access Call – Keep an eye out for our annual announcements (1st call closed on 28 November 2024).
2. Get Your Proposal Accepted – Secure access to the POLARIN infrastructure for your research.
3. Share Your Experience – From the start of your journey to its conclusion, document and share your experience in your preferred format.

Guidelines and submission forms will be provided to successful applicants, ensuring you have everything you need to contribute meaningfully. Your contributions will be featured across POLARIN’s communication channels.
